Cider has been a part of Gamet’s story since the 1940s when Marianne’s grandfather, Robert Heucq, began producing cider in the village of Fleury-la-Rivière, only a ten-minute drive north from the estate in Mardeuil. Inspired by the idea that growing and producing Champagne should be done so in a holistic way that considers every facet of their environment, Marianne looked to the past and revived the production of cider. The flagship bottling is made up of 8 different apple varieties coming from two sources. 40% from estate orchards and 60% from orchards owned by the Thirouin family based in Montreuil-aux-Lions and well respected in their craft. Our first release of this cider is low in alcohol – only 5% – and makes for a delightful aperitif, lunch companion, or even breakfast beverage!
